Sour Patch Grapes Recipe

Bloggers have loved Sour Patch grapes, or Glitter Grapes, for years. Try them yourself. Warning:

You may never eat candy again. Citric acid is added to Jell-O packets to provide tartness before adding lemon-coated grapes. The sweet-tart bite may rival your favorite sweets.

Choose your favorite Jell-O varieties for an improved sweet snack for movie night or handmade food gifts.

Tips: Curious about citric acid? Without it, these grapes taste fine, but adding it gives them that sour taste we want. The flavor won't be as strong without it.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 pound. green grapes 1/2 lemon 1/2 tsp. citric acid 1-pack cherry Jell-o (3 oz) Orange package Jell-o (3 oz) 1-pack lemon Jell-o (3 oz) 1 lime pack Jell-o (3 oz)

Empty each Jell-O packet into a gallon plastic bag. Put 1/2 tsp citric acid in each bag.   In Step 2, take grapes from stems and rinse in a colander, shaking to remove excess water (grapes should be damp, not dripping). Lemon juice over grapes and toss with hands to lightly coat.

Step 3: Seal and shake each bag of Jell-O mix with a handful of grapes to coat. In Step 4, remove from resealable bags and serve.
