Air Fryer Orange Chicken Recipe

Orange chicken, devised by Panda Express senior chef Andy Kao in 1987, has become a weekday staple.   

Air frying yields the same crispy outcome as deep- or pan-frying, with the trademark sticky-sweet orange sauce, but with less oil.

Orange vs. General Tso's.   General Tso's chicken and orange chicken have a crispy cornstarch coating and savory-sweet sauce, but they're different.  

Orange Chicken has an orange sauce, while General Tso's has chili.   

Ingredients: 2 lb. skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into 1" pieces. Kosher salt, 1/2 tsp 1/4 tsp. fresh-ground black pepper 2 big eggs 1/4 cup all-purpose flour  

1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon cornstarch Olive oil cooking spray 1 1/2 c. orange juice   1/4 c. packed light brown sugar Two tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce or tamari  

2 Tbsp rice vinegar 2 minced garlic cloves 1/2 tsp. fresh ginger minced 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper 2-tsp. toasted sesame oil Scallion slices and toasted sesame seeds for serving
