Blackberry-Mint Julep Recipe

Could mint juleps improve? Amazingly, this blackberry-mint julep is the refreshing twist on the classic cocktail I can't get enough of.

Muddled blackberries gave this Kentucky Derby drink a vibrant purple colour and flavour.

What you need to know about this lovely summer cocktail that your party will love:

A blackberry-mint julep? Muddled blackberries are added to mint juleps to make blackberry-mint ones. Kentucky bourbon, mint, simple syrup, and ice make juleps light, booze-forward, and served in frosted glasses on warm days.

Muddled blackberries complement the mint and bourbon and turn the drink purple. For muddling, it uses granulated sugar instead of simple syrup.

INGREDIENTS 4 fresh mint leaves, plus extra for serving. 1/2 tsp. granulated sugar 6 fresh blackberries, divided Ice 2 oz. bourbon

Muddle mint, sugar, 5 blackberries, and 1 ounce water in a glass measuring cup or small bowl until blackberries lose shape and a thick purée forms.

Step 2: Strain into a cold coupe glass. Stir in bourbon to chill. Step 3: Add one more blackberry and mint leaves for garnish.
